The Ravenel Bridge is North America's longest cable stay bridge opening July 16, 2005. The bridge connects the City of Charleston and the Town of Mount Pleasant and spans the Cooper River.

The bridge walkway is 2.6 miles long and is designed for pedestrians, joggers and cycling.

A group of us, Diane Quigley, Ray Bevaqua, Sue Bley, Paull Phillips, Brad Crockett, Renee Rappaport, Diane Farhat and me (Sam Markman) walked the entire length both ways, a total distance of approximately 5.2 miles.

These images are from that bridge walk which we did on Thursday, August 16, 2007. An additional image with further information about the Ravenel family can be found here.
