There are three native Hawaiian sea turtles. The Green turtle, or Honu, is the most common. We saw this green turtle while snorkeling from our guide boat along the rugged Na Pali Coast of Kauai.

Green Sea Turtles are so ancient they watched the dinosaurs evolve and become extinct. All of these sea turtles are federally protected and the penalties are severe if you bother these turtles in any way. This one swam to me and with me for a short period.
