On September 10, 2008, friends Janet Summers, George Sacclaris, Larry Winfield, Becky Fehrs, Diane Farhat and I flew to Rome to begin a 12-night cruise of the Mediterranean.
Upon landing in Rome, we traveled to Civitavecchia just northeast of Rome to board the Grand Princess on Thursday, September 11.

Following the cruise, Larry, Becky, Diane and I stayed an additional three nights in Venice. In Venice, we stayed at the Hotel Galleria near the Accademia Bridge over the Grand Canal.
